Right on the PCH, "flanked by two large shopping centers" and two miles from the state beach, this independent outfit that's "close to all things in Carmel/Monterey" may look like a "drab", "old motel" from the outside, but the inside's a "pleasant surprise", with a redone "'70s retro look" that uses "bright aquatic colors" but isn't "too overdone"; the admittedly "small" rooms have "no views" but do include "upscale touches" like iPod docks, 37-inch flat-screens and beds with "great sheets and comfy mattresses."

It was convenient to shopping, restaurants, and where I needed to be.

Unfortunately, the bathroom tile is cracked in the grout at the shower and it did not offer a tub. No microwave.

The hotel has been updated and is clean and comfortable. We were two ladies traveling together and felt safe in the room and parking lot.

Awesome and friendly staff who were willing to go above and beyond for their guests.
